16 But ^aavoid ^bworldly and empty chatter, for ^{▼▼ Lit they will make further progress in ungodliness}it will lead to further ungodliness, 17 and their ^{▼▼ Lit word}talk will spread like ^{▼▼ Or cancer}gangrene. Among them are ^fHymenaeus and Philetus, 18 men who have gone astray from the truth saying that ^gthe resurrection has already taken place, and they upset ^hthe faith of some.
